About the Investors

South African Student Accommodation Impact Investments (SASAII) owns Units on Park in Hatfield Pretoria. SASAII develops and owns affordable, purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in South Africa.

The new student accommodation​ projects under construction are Units on Jorissen, in Braamfontein, which is targeting Wits University with 1,071 beds and Units on Station Square, Cape Town CBD which is targeting Cape Peninsula University of Technology and surrounding academic institutions, with 3,081 beds. Both projects will be opening in the 2024 academic year.

Avenue Road | Developed for the University of Cape Town

Avenue Road is a new 500 student residence construction project, won by the Rise team, consisting of 150 single beds and 175 double beds, as well as a 536-seater dining hall facility. The project is set to be completed in August 2020 in time for student intake in 2021. The building will have a minimum of a 4 - Star Green Building SA Design Rating.

The 4 storey building will include amenities such as a communal lounge, laundry, landscape courtyards and security. The student residence which is located on the University of Cape Town’s campus has been designed to meet the University’s brief and save costs for the University, proving that the design was efficient and cost - effective.

Jorissen Street

Braamfontein, Johannesburg

The Jorissen Street development will be a new development set to provide beds in Jorissen Street in Braamfontein, across from the Wits Theatre Complex and approximately 160m from Senate House. Braamfontein is home to various other tertiary institutions such as Rosebank College, Damelin and many more, making it a student hub with many recreational areas and activities.

Set to break ground in 2020, this student development will bring a change to the student products offered in the area. Offering a safe environment, with new and innovative spaces for our students to be able to live and study.

There are various mixes of units ranging from two bedroom to eight bedroom sharing units. The units will be equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, an eating and lounge area.

Cape Station

Cape Station is a brand new mixed use precinct comprising 6700sqm of retail GLA and 3,081 beds in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD. The new precinct is located on the forecourt of the Cape Town Station fronting onto Adderley Street, which impressively is within a 1km radius of 30 tertiary education institutions. The largest of these is CPUT’s (Cape Peninsula of Technology) District 6 Campus, home to approximately 16,000 students.

The purpose built student residence is configured in 4, 3 and 1 bedroom apartments whereby every student has their own lockable bedroom. Every apartment is complimented by its own kitchen and ablutions. The residence includes extensive lounge areas for students to relax and socialize in, dedicated quiet zones for studying as well as exciting outdoor activity areas such as fives football and action netball/baseketball! A dedicated cinema provides entertainment for movie nights which is further complimented by dozens of TV lounges scattered throughout the building.

Units on Birbeck

Units on Birbeck is a brand-new development in Kimberly designed to cater to Sol Plaatje University students. Conveniently situated right next to the University, it’s merely 200 meters from the Central Campus and less than 100 meters from the South Campus.

This four-story facility will be ready for student occupancy by 2025 and boasts 670 individual rooms across the premises, complete with shared amenities. The units will be equipped with a kitchen, and bathroom. Each room is furnished with a bed, study desk, and cupboard for a comfortable and conducive living and learning environment.
